Iran Test Fires Long-Range Missiles Capable Of Striking Israel, U.S. Bases
By Reuters

Iran's Revolutionary Guards tested 14 missiles on Tuesday, the second day of war games intended a show of strength to the Islamic Republic's enemies in Israel and Washington.

The Iranian-made surface-to-surface missiles, with a maximum range of 2,000 km (1,250 miles), were fired simultaneously at a single target, the official IRNA news agency reported.

The head of the Revolutionary Guards' aerospace division emphasized Iran's preparedness to strike Israel and U.S. interests in the event of any attack on Iran.

"The range of our missiles has been designed based on American bases in the region as well as the Zionist regime," Commander Amir Ali Hajizadeh told the semi-official Fars news agency.

1. Presented better video propaganda than last time
Wish they would do our local car commercials. I doubt any video release shows all 14 but then if there were any duds or tests left out the pre-editing takes care of that nicely. The plane ride to the test site was interesting.

It would be a shame if someone succumbed to the temptation to fake the firings after all that effort.

2. Israel is a small country...
Iran only needs one to work. We can mock the Iranians all we want, but we had plenty of rocket failures, too. They will, unfortunately, figure it out one day.

4. Iran can't refine enough GASOLINE for their domestic use
Edited on Tue Jun-28-11 03:38 PM by TheDeceptiCON
The only reason they can launch ANYTHING is the second hand technology they bought off of Pakistan.
Do you know how LONG it would take them to fuel up and prep a rocket? DAYS! Think we might be able to swoop in there with a drone before they can launch?

Iran is perilously close to civil war. This sort of display of militarism doesn't do very much when you can't buy gas because the government is too incompetent and corrupt to run refineries.

And of course it behooves me to mention that had Bush not rushed in based on lies for his vendetta against Saddam, Iran would still have had a counterbalance to their power in the region instead of being handed the keys by BushCO. But I'm sure that Bush never even considered that rather OBVIOUS outcome of his choice as it was never about WMD's but REVENGE for his father.

5. Just a harmless remark on
the presentation. The rocket thing is just another example of world saber rattling as usual. Just meant as a compliment
for the reporting style. It is good to see a bit more professionalism in this dangerous business.

3. How come Reuters never has a headline like this:
US has nuclear weapons capable of striking Iran.

7. I hope Iran
can build up a strong enough defense as to discourage us from ever ever thinking of attacking them. Iran should take a good look at Iraq and get the damn bomb before we accuse them of having nuclear weapons.

These types of headline used to scare me but not anymore.
