Return access to pre-protest standard.

It's time to give back to the citizens of Wisconsin access to their State Capitol building. If there was ever justification for armed officers, metal detectors and wands, following demonstrations against Governor Scott Walker's budget proposal, that justification no longer exists.

The Walker administration apparently feels threatened because the budget dispute remains unresolved. But that's no longer a valid reason to hinder access to the building and to the public officials who work there by citizens with business to conduct or those who simply want to visit. This level of security is bizarrely out of whack with reality.

We'll find out Tuesday if the continued security is in fact in violation of a court order......................
