Britain: Protests take on rich tax dodgers
The deepest cuts to Britain’s public spending since World War II were announced in October. At the same time, it was revealed that some of the nation’s biggest corporations and richest people were using legal loopholes to avoid paying tax.

The treasurer in the Conservative Party-Liberal Democrat coalition government, Conservative MP George Osborne, announced that £81 billion would be slashed from public spending including £7 billion in welfare cuts.

Former Labour chancellor Alistair Darling told the British Guardian the obvious on October 21, saying: “The poorest are losing more as a proportion of their income as a result of these changes.”

In response to the cuts, the idea for a series of protests targeting some of the nation’s biggest tax dodgers was born in a North London pub by a small group of activists, BBC Newsnight said on January 31.

1. What we need are Egyptian style protests along Wall Street in NYC and K Street in
Washington D.C.. I think that is the only thing that will scare the greedy bastards.

4. Most people have been brainwashed
into the understanding that these cuts are necessary and it's time for us to suck it up. There's nothing we can do about it. The rich are laughing about that all the way to the bank.

3. I say screw taxing the rich.
They need to be dead. Their families need to be dead. Their friends need to be dead. Socializing with them should be grounds for summary execution. They need to be made into pariahs so that even being seen with them could be a death sentance.

On the other hand I haven't had my coffee yet and I'm feeling kinda grumpy. I'm sure I'll feel more sanguine about things after a steaming cup of humanity with cream.

5. Good thing I don't drink coffee
I get to have a clear head all day without the artificial mood elevation of stimulants.

I fear that what you suggested is really the only thing that has any chance of working, but I am also completely convinced that Americans will happily torture each other to death, down to the last one or two, before they would consider such a thing. Including DUers, unless the place unknowingly has a troll infestation worthy of a bloody Scandanavian saga.
