Tom Corbett Says The Unemployed Just 'Sit There'
The Republican candidate for governor in Pennsylvania says that extended unemployment benefits discourage the jobless from looking for work.

"The jobs are there, but if we keep extending unemployment, people are just going to sit there," Pennsylvania attorney general Tom Corbett told radio reporter Scott Detrow last week. "I've literally had construction companies tell me, 'I can't get people to come back to work until -- they say, 'We'll come back when unemployment runs out.'"

This week Corbett said he "didn't mean it to be insensitive."

Corbett joins the ranks of GOP candidates Rand Paul in Kentucky and Sharon Angle in Nevada, not to mention several members of Congress -- including Democrats -- who suspect the jobless of preferring not to work.

4. Sorry for the foul language...
Tom Corbett can go fuck himself. I am in construction. I waited 21 mos to go back to work. There are no jobs!! My Union Hall has 2400 "guys" on the book right now. Got laid off in Aug 2008. I expect to work maybe another month and then I will go to the bottom of the list and wait another 21 mos. I am a single mother with a college student, a mortgage etc... I would have done anything to go back to work instead of becoming agrophobic, having panic attacks, and basically losing my mind from the stress.

7. Why doesn't one of these geniuses open a placement service?
They would make some real money.
Apparently there are jobs and workers. All he would have to do is match them up.
Almost like one of those dating services.

10. No, they go and apply for jobs with hundreds of others and get turned away
because their are hundreds of applicants for just one job. And, many are beginning to think they will never find decent employment.
