Oil spill fallout could pollute the 'special relationship'

By David Usborne, US Editor

Friday, 11 June 2010

The crisis in the Gulf of Mexico is threatening to poison ties between President Barack Obama and David Cameron ahead of their first meeting since the general election.

Even as it made progress in capturing more of the leaking oil, BP was forced to issue a statement underscoring its long-term financial health as it weathers devastating drops in its share value, triggered in part by relentless criticism in America, not least from President Obama.

The pressure being exerted on BP in the US is now certain to top the agenda when Mr Obama meets Mr Cameron on the fringes of a G8 and G20 summit in Ontario, Canada, on 26 June. However, the topic will take centre stage in telephone talks between the two leaders this weekend, British officials indicated. The Prime Minister and President have not spoken since Mr Obama placed a congratulatory call to Mr Cameron after the election.

3. BP and their corporate media have been lying
BP and their whores in the corporate media have been lying since day one about the amount of oil leaking into the Gulf. First of all there are three leaks, not one, at the Deepwater Horizon site. Secondly, satellite imagery shows that are two other leaks at different sites. Thirdly, the damages will go far beyond fouled beaches and dead marine life. There are nuclear and coal-fired power plants that rely on clean Gulf water for cooling. There are also desalinization plants that use reverse osmosis to convert seawater into drinking for residents in Florida and other Gulf states. If oil clogs these intakes, then the economic damages will be far beyond anything people have been told. 6. over and over, it's been bp that's screwed bp....
....hey Mr. Prez, tell cameron that you don't give a rats ass about british public opinion regarding their sleazy polluting oil company....besides, british pensioners don't vote in US elections and their investment concerns are camerons problem, not yours....maybe offer to send a few tankers full of bp's finest Gulf slug to the more vocal brits as a peace offering....

....better yet, suggest to cameron that he should send those british pensioners' investments to our wall street casinos for some 'special relationship'....cameron will know what you mean....

9. Unless they acknowledge the enormity of the disaster and
the culpability of BP, I don't want to hear one fucking word.

I can empathize with the little guy, but won't if he doesn't do likewise...FIRST. This is BP's mess.
