Natural Solution Will Break Down Gulf Oil Spill with Oxygen Producing Microbes.
'While authorities take time to consider how they can deploy technologies like this to the oil onslaught in the wetlands and ocean, Amira EET is offering quantities of its product for free to the wildlife clean-up efforts in Louisiana. The mixture, made up of naturally-occurring microbes found in deep ocean vents, is not genetically engineered and has been selected from billions of microbes for this exact situation. Arch-Microbes put more oxygen into the water as petroleum and other pollutants are consumed, repairing dead zones and sustaining wildlife. Once the oil is gone the microbes die off and enter the food chain.

"Arch-Microbes are proven to be effective in these situations," said retired General Wesley Clark, an advisory board member of Amira EET, "We have had to be defensive until we caught up with this disaster. Now that we have gained momentum its time to get on the offensive, destroy the oil where it is, and get ahead of it to prevent further damage. Arch-Microbes digest oil without the physical destruction of the environment. It's a win-win."'

2. Like bacteria you buy to put in your home aquarium, they'll probably all die instantly
As soon as they are released in the environment.

The bacteria that will actually do the job are already there. It will take them a while, but they will ultimately do the job.

3. That'd be something if it worked. Maybe the free quantities should
be tried to see how successful it is. I'm all for a 'natural' clean-up.

I do worry/wonder about Gen. Clark being involved with the company, but the above still applies.

5. He's on their advisory board so he has a
motive for promoting the company. He could very legitimately be promoting them because he believes in their product, too.

And he assists them to further their benefits, and promotes them.

'U.S. Senator Byron Dorgan (D-N.D.) announced today that General Wesley Clark, one of the leading executives in renewable energy, has been added as a featured speaker at the upcoming 2010 Renewable Energy Action Summit.

General Clark is the co-chairman of Growth Energy and chairman of Solar Energy Squared, and he is a member of the Clinton Global Initiative's Energy and Climate Change Advisory Board.'

http://www.prairiebizmag.com/event/article/id/10883/group/homepage/

'Growth Energy announced that it is pleased to have as its new Co-Chairman, General Wesley Clark. Growth Energy said this about General Clark: “With his unsurpassed experience and insight added to the biofuels movement, four-star General and national Democratic leader Wesley Clark will help America take an important step closer to becoming energy independent. We are honored and excited to have him joining us.” When did General Clark come on board and what has he accomplished since joining Growth Energy?

TB: General Clark joined the Growth Energy team in February of 2009 and we have been very fortunate to have him on board. He is deeply committed to our cause and a terrific spokesman for our industry.

General Clark understands that America’s security is directly linked to our energy independence and since joining, he has dedicated many hours to help educate Americans about the benefits of ethanol at public speaking events, in one-on-one interviews with the media and at Growth Energy press conferences.'

8. A word about "advisory boards"

Advisory board gigs are typically low paid "name lending" exercises. Come to our annual retreat in Tahiti and be on our advisory board.

13. And this sort of b.s. will have to end, if we're to survive, imo.
Incidentally, its not at all what Wes Clark does.

15. English Please?

I was responding to someone who thought that being on an advisory board was some sort of commercial interest.

I have no idea what you are on about, but a chemical company with a product like this would obviously want someone like Clark on the board. But it's not as if there is any large compensation other than a flat fee and meeting expenses.

Wes Clark provides substance to whatever he does.

...but I can't think of too many annual corporate retreats in Akron. You make it seem as if going somewhere nice is some sort of big honking deal. A thousand dollar air ticket and a $250 a night room is not some sort of bank busting perk. Tahiti is a nice place to visit. And, yes, they have meeting facilities.

14. In some ways, for the same reason it's such a hard ask to get a nuke...
...power plant online. Public backlash and the fear of the same.

It's BIOLOGICAL!!!.

Outside of medicine, biotech does not have a paticularly good name. Mostly thanks to Monsanto, but with a strong contribution from others. Throw in the word microbes and ignorant people start thinking germ warfare. Or leastways politicians think, people will be thinking germ warfare.

20. Why not bring hundreds of OIL TANKERS from around the world - that would be faster?
What? Does BP not wish to share their oil.

IF we sent out an SOS for as many oil tankers as the WORLD OIL COMMUNITY could bring and let them keep the quantity removed, we'd get an IMMEDIATE response.

We could have this leak cleaned up before it effects any more wildlife refuges.
