1. Tell Me, When Did It Leave?
We had Goldwater, Nixon, Reagan, and both Bushes. Wall to wall paranoia 24/7/365. For the past 45 years, at least. Before that, I was too young to notice.

2. when perceived personal safety issues get triggered, some folks project
their fears onto others and see them as the threat. Another option is to deal with one's "dark side" and one's own sources of the fear.
