Do High Schools need military laisons?

1. I think I know

My take on it is that a lot of high schools have JROTC programs. These are recrtuiting tools for the military. The schools get money for allowing these programs to exist on campus and the military can recruit from the students a lot easier because it has them within its grasp for 4 years. I was in JROTC and did go in the Reserves after high school but a lot of my fellow students went straight to Active Duty. I was a naive teenager and didn't really look at JROTC as a recruiting tool, in my opinion at the time, it was a fun alternative to taking gym class.

2. The idea of a military liaison seems OK

It's just what they did that is repugnant. If the military liaison was someone that students thinking of a military career could go and talk to, or gave occasional talks, that would be fine (no different from, say, a university having a schools' liaison officer).

But the behaviour of this guy (girl?) sounds more like a Soviet commisar - there to ensure the ideological purity of the students and staff, and to quash criticism of Our Simian Leader. The principal should be sacked, and shunned by any decent person.
