The May 12 editorial cartoon by Tony Auth on censorship is compelling, but falls short of the insidious nature of this new campaign to control the media through censorship. By launching the campaign against four-letter words by Howard Stern and other talk show hosts, it actually had the sympathy of most Americans, who, as Auth points out, "did nothing" to protest. But, as we now see, governmental censorship by the Federal Communications Commission is not the only method."

Take control of the executive branch.
Take control of the legislative branch.
Replace federal judges.
Invoke censorship to control the media.
