Bush, God.."it's certainly not the same God that I talk to.." LTTE
http://www.theledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20040522/NEWS/405220338/1037/EDIT

SNIP..."Do we want to continue on the path of slain and wounded youths; church and state being bound closer and closer together; tax dollars going to religious organizations; stem cell research, and all the benefits it will bring, being denied; a woman's reproductive right being managed by religious zealots; our constitutional rights being eroded by a wrongly named USA Patriot Act. (For example, without a warrant and without probable cause, the FBI now has the power to access your most private medical records, your library records and your student records. And the FBI can prevent anyone from telling you it was done.) The list goes on.

It often appears that the "religious right" might be better labeled the "religious -- we are always -- right." It is an incredibly powerful, cohesive, element of our nation. The polarization that could overgrow our country is an alarming possibility.

Let us be careful about one group doing all our thinking for us because they believe God is talking to them. It's certainly not the same God that I talk to....."

1. Is the Pope's God the same God that talks to George Bush?
If so, then he shouldn't watch any sporting events on Sundays.

Or, more to the point, W should ban all events on Sundays and mandate churchgoing. Especially if you're an atheist.

Oh, dear. Now I've given them ideas.

2. Chosen by God
Whom one choses for a particular position says as much about the chooser as it does about the chosen. God having chosen Bush for President does not bode well for God's opinion of this nation God is claimed to have inspired. God apparently does not think very highly of the humans rights this nation once stood for; after all, Bush's "end justifies the means" approach set the environment for the abuses that took place. God must support the slaughter of the innocent for God has chosen an individual who is willing to sacrifice the innocent for the greater good in both preemptive war and preemptive crime. Equally so is God's displeasure with the rock in space call Earth for the one chosen promotes pillage and rape of the planet. Also indicated by God's choice for leadership is tunnel vision thinking and ignorance for the chosen abounds with both. If this is the best that God can do to advance democracy and self rule, then we are in a truly sorry state for God does not have a very high hopes in what man can achieve. Yes, much can be discerned about God's attitude towards God's created by who God chose to lead and it is not good at all.

4. The last time i checked,
Edited on Sat May-22-04 07:06 PM by myopic4141
God was suppose to be smart enough not to chose an individual such a Bush to lead under God's name which was the point of my comment. Who knew?

6. The claim vs reality
The claim is that Bush was anointed to his position by God. My comment is that for the claim to be true, this would have to be God's opinion of the position. It is doubtful that God would think so lowly of this country as to anoint Bush; therefore, the claim must be untrue.

8. It was a good post
And pointed out clearly that God would have to have a few screws loose to actually have appointed Bush, thus God did not appoint him.

But you said it better.
