Denver Post - Michael Bennet Trying to Shove HCR Down Our Throats
this is one nasty ass column....by the Post Editorial Board

editorial
Bennet doesn't get the message
The Colorado senator is ignoring voters' will by pushing a reconciliation vote to cram health care reform down our throats.

Posted: 02/18/2010 01:00:00 AM MST

Most Americans want Congress to start over on health care reform, but it seems Colorado Sen. Michael Bennet would rather jam it down our throats.

Ignoring the message that voters sent in Massachusetts, and shedding any notion that he intends to be a moderate Democrat, Bennet is leading a pack of liberal senators who want to push through health-care reform using a process known as reconciliation.

How is it possible that Sen. Bennet, yet to receive one vote from a Coloradan, has such a tin ear for what most Coloradans and Americans want?

Under reconciliation, which does away with normal Senate procedures, health care reform needs only a simple majority vote. We editorialized last spring against using reconciliation on this issue and urged congressional leaders to come up with a bipartisan solution. Something of this magnitude, which would make generational changes to our health care system, shouldn't be forced on Americans by one-party rule.

And here's the kicker: Bennet doesn't even have the votes necessary to ram it through on reconciliation.

So why even bring it up?

3. To think the DP used to be considered the moderate voice of the 2 papers...
...It's not good enough to use as TP now.

4. I finally forgave them for their editorial board's endorsement of Bush*
Edited on Thu Feb-18-10 12:36 PM by hlthe2b
over Kerry in 04.... That one broke my heart as I knew my paper carrier well.. But, after writing and calling DP, I had to take stand (for a year) before renewing subscription. I know that the RW owner had orchestrated that endorsement, while allowing his LA TImes to be more "true" to their editorial stances.

I want us to have a newspaper in Denver. It breaks my heart that we lost the RMN (despite its RW slant). But, damn!

5. Funny thing is, most conservatives I know don't want the Post.
When the News stopped publishing they cancelled their subscription to the Post and either read nothing or get USA Today.

So the extreme right-wing 'editorial board' (as opposed to most of the staff editors) are just alienating their few remaining liberal/independent customers.

It's funny that when they do outrageous shit like this nobody puts their name to it.

Like when the 'Post' endorsed Bush in 2004, with the most backhanded endorsement ever, or when they ran a front-page editorial slamming Ritter to allowing state workers to unionize.

I'll bet it written by that hysterical crybaby Harsanyi though.

9. Every Sunday, When They List Most Read/Emailed
it's always the Harsani, Rosen and Carroll columns.

That would lead me to believe, the right has come to embrace the Post their right-wing columnists.

15. Maybe so.
Then again maybe they just sign on to their website, read those editorials and pass them to every one they know.

I never get left-wing viral emails. Only right.

I'm just going by mostly my co-workers, who are right-wing. None of them would consider reading the Post and regard it as a left-wing rag. While I would agree that most writers and editors at the Post are not-conservative, the owners who write this crap most definitely are. And Harsanyi is their mouthpiece.

2. Let's see how many votes are there. Bring it up for vote!
Make those who are fighting reform show their hands. It's not a good thing to be against pre-existing or other good things in the bill.

blatantly proving the editors and a few RW posters needed to use the Google and were intellectually Dishonest. until i buy a new computer I can't sign on as another identity... as the FReepers routinely do.

ever since the Rocky was making more money than the POSt under the "Denver Newspaper Agency" the Rocky was finally killed.

the best part of the story is how the "DNA" offered subscriptions, a week free with your choice of a Saturday Rocky or Sunday Post. well they found no one wanted the POSt. so they Included a sunday post with your week of Rocky... then found people tossing the sunday post without ever pulling it out of the plastic bag.

The POSt is turning hard right I will not be surprised if Susan Barns-Gelt gets the ax next. as she is the last "liberal" columnist at that paper wasting rag!!!

10. The Post Cancelled Ins. On ALL PART-TIME Employees
For decades they insured part-timers - so you'd think they'd welcome HCR.

Oh wait, they did - until Bennet proposed a Public Option
