Anti-nuclear response to Obama's 8 bn gift to nuclear power

Harvey Wasserman, Greenpeace advisor, author of SOLARTOPIA and founder of nuclearfree.org, discusses President Obama’s 8 bn initiative to expand the nuclear power industry. With the initiative unfunded by Wall Street due to its lack of economic viability because of lack of insurability (toxic waste and security problems) the initiative would leave tax-payers holding the bill for subsidizing a failed 20th century technology as well as accidents. The initiative is opposed by conservatives (Heritage Foundation and CATO Institute) as well as liberals (greens) – why would Obama invest in this unpopular failed twentieth century technology when there are other alternatives? The answer may lie in Obama advisors’ Rahm Emanuel's and David Axelrod’s connections to EXELON Corp, the largest nuclear power provider in the US, which benefits from the initiative. The interview is at:

3. Well
That is the American way. Hard to change that. We'd have to ditch the whole system and start over again. Which is not a bad idea, but who you gonna get as president to do that?

6. Excellent Article
There is nothing for power elites in renewables (wind, solar) because those sources of power can essentially be decentralized to the extent that one could have their own source of electricity in their back yard and the CEOs of the energy companies would lose $$.

This is decision by Obama is one more example of how the public has lost control of major decision making...

The nuclear energy answer is no solution to the immediate problems of climate change or global warming....It will take more than five years for any of these nuclear plants to come on line...By then the islands of Tuvalu, the Maldives, etc. will be treading water.

7. Tin Foil time here..I thought I heard MSNBC say the building hit by plane in Austin was Exelon build
building..did anyone else hear that????????

I have not heard the name of the building repeated..

but just now a reporter from Austin was on MSNBC that said a house fire broke out this morning and it was possibly the home of the pilot of that aircraft..and that someone ran into the burning home to save a woman and her daughter..possibly the wife and daughter of the crash pilot.

the aircraft supposedly was from Georgetown Tx and it was possibly a stolen aircraft ..and it is being investigated ..that the pilot is possibly the owner of the house that was burning and the roof has now collpased on the home.

anyone else hearing this?????
