1. I just wrote the White House
and urged the President not to attend.

2. Maybe I am wrong but I think if he doesn't
attend he gives the group more power.

4. I think he prefers to challenge people to their faces instead of boycotting.

3. Not to offend those who are into public praying
Edited on Thu Feb-04-10 08:57 AM by tularetom
But the idea of a "prayer breakfast" is just ignorant.

I had a boss once who tried to stage one for the staff. About 5 people showed up (out of 100 or so).

The next year he announced it would be mandatory. Some of us bitched to the legal department who told him he couldn't do that. He pouted for a month and never forgave us for scuttling his dumbass idea.

If you want to pray, that's between you and whoever you pray to. I don't want to hear it or hear about it.

On edit: I sure as hell don't want my taxes subsidizing this bullshit event.

5. Obama will be there grand standing on the backs of gay people
to make a big show about how religious he is. I guess that is what his faith teaches. Self proclamation of faith, loud public displays of piety and attacks against minorities in the name of 'God'.
His faith is not at all like the Christianity of my mother. Nothing at all like it.

6. You are wrong. His Christianity is more like your mother's than you think.
And so is Hillary's..from what I'm hearing.

They're taking this opportunity to stand in front of these people and tell them that what they are doing when they attack others is not Christian.

7. So you oppose him calling them out on the Uganda thing?

I'm confused. He went there to criticize what they support. And you are against that?

8. daylight continues to be the best disinfectant - these breakfasts are now getting the light of day

they will never have the same tone as they once did, and the more information and details that continue to slip out, the more likely that participants will dwindle in the future as other prayer breakfasts take their place. You can't trademark 'Prayer Breakfast' so hopefully other groups continue to make inroads.
