WASHINGTON — Fundraising for Democratic campaign committees is surging, helping the party to extend a winning streak in competitive special elections and giving House Democrats a more than 3-to-1 advantage over Republicans in cash stockpiled for the battles ahead, campaign-finance reports show.

The Democratic National Committee, along with the fundraising arm for House Democrats, outraised Republican committees last month. Overall, all Democratic committees ended October with nearly $38.8 million cash on hand, compared with $21.3 million for Republicans.

The Democrats' most recent victory in a special election came in an Upstate New York district that had been represented by Republicans for more than a century.

Van Hollen called the New York race a "double loss" for Republicans. "They depleted a million of their already-smaller bank account ... and they lost the race," he said.

1. Rec. Thanks for this post.
I really hate republicans, and welcome every chance to make them less than they already are.

2. If you caught CNN you would see a whole article on
the Ticker about how the republicans have raised 9M dollars. NO word, no mention of the fact that the Democrats have raised more money than they, the republicans. But what do you expect from the wanta be Fox..CNN

8. I called the WH and asked "how can I nominate Grayson to head up the Dem Party?"

Then I suggested Pres. OBama have a meeting with Grayson to get a better understanding of the Corporate Lobbyist Party and learn from Grayson how to deal with this group which consistently compromises the good of the country for the aggrandizement of the few. Pres. Obama is an intelligent and fine man. Maybe that's his problem. He doesn't know how to engage in the bar-fighting kind of politics the Republicans are so versed in. He really doesn't want to get down on that level fighting "in the mud and the blood and the beer" as Johnnie Cash once put it.

Of course, any normal person does not like it. Unfortunately, I think a certain amount of this is necessary when dealing with the destructive politics of the American Taliban.

4. How often does the minority party, out of power in the WH as well, raise more bucks?

5. I got a letter today asking for donations and I told them unless I
saw a robust public option not to count on my money or my vote. I told them how disgusted I was with corporations were taking over the democrat party and I wasn't happy that they weren't looking after the working poor in this country.

9. I have sent emails and made phone calls to Senators and Representatives saying "no subsidies for

insurance companies with-out a PUBLIC OPTION." I've told them, that people are not going to be fooled by a Republican Health Care reform bill (i.e. subsidies to insurance companies with NO Public Option). NOthing would please the insurance companies more than to get paid to insure people and NOT have any cost controls placed on them.

I also call and email telling those on 'the Hill' that with Reid's "opt-out" provision for the REpublican Democrats (they call themselves moderates) there IS NO EXCUSE FOR ANY DEMOCRAT (or Corporate Lobbyist) to kill the Health CAre Reform. They can opt out of the Pubic Option for their state. This way they can screw the people of there own state but leave the rest of the country alone to "Go Rational" and get the Public Option. NO PUBLIC OPTION - NO HEALTH CARE REFORM - ALL YOU'VE GOT IS A REPUBLICAN PLAN FOR SUBSIDIZED PROFITS FOR INSURANCE COMPANIES WITHOUT ANY MEANS OF COST CONTROL. SUBSIDIZED PROFITS FOR SOCIALIZED CAPITALISM. JUST WHAT THE CORPORATE LOBBYIST PARTY ADORES.

I completley agree that with you that we should keep pressure on them (the WH in particular) that if they do not think of the needs of the people first, their policies will not be successful in solving our problems. They are bending over backward too much to try to achieve unattainable bi-partisanship (note the compromised stimulus plan with tax-cuts for GOP which are NOT STIMULATIVE and now the Republicans keep saying the Stimulus wasn't big enough!).

The American Taliban are not interested in bi-partisanship. They are willing to destroy our economy, our strategic security (IRAQ adventure to free Iraqi oil) and of course our democracy to obtain power - without any intention of tolerating quaint traditions like 'checks and balances' (purges of US Attorney's who did not show sufficient enthusiasm for polital prosecutions).

YOu can't shake hands with someone who's holding a bomb in his.
