since states can "opt-out" of the Public Option, im-moderate "Dems" have NO EXCUSE for killing PO
Reid: "The Public Option With An Opt-Out Is The One That's Fair"

"I've concluded --with the support of the White House, Senators Dodd and Baucus -- that the best way to move forward is to include a public option with the opt-out provision for states," said Reid, referring to the Senate health and finance committee representatives, respectively, Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) and Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.). "The public option, with an opt-out, is the one that's fair."

Reid has been pushing the so-called opt-out public option for the last several days and has spoken to nearly all 60 members of the Democratic caucus. He needs 60 votes to end an expected Republican filibuster and move the bill to the floor.

"We've spent countless hours over the last few days in consultation with senators who've shown a genuine desire to reform the health care system. And I believe there's a strong consensus to move forward in this direction," Reid said.

By including the public option in the bill before it goes to the floor, Reid is offering conservative Democrats a fig leaf of sorts. They can cast a vote in favor of ending a GOP filibuster -- when 60 votes are required -- but then vote against the public option later when the matter is debated on the floor, and only 50 votes are needed for victory. The move is also a gift to liberals, as the specific provision won't need to reach the traditional 60-vote threshold that is so often the death of genuine reform legislation.

NOw the IM-moderate "Democrats" who are against a Public Option, have no god-damn excuse. They can opt their own states out of such a provision and let the rest of the company "go rational" and have a public option for those who need it and have cost controls on insurance companies.

Let's not let the corporate lobbyist party have their cake and eat it too ---PUBLIC PAID FOR PROFITS FOR THE INSURANCE COMPANIES AND NO COST CONTROLS FOR US, THE TAXPAYERS.. The insurance companies and their golems in the Corporate Lobbyist Party want those hundreds of millions in Public funds to pay them to insure people who can't pay their premiums but they want to be free to keep raising prices at will - WITH PUBLIC FUNDING TO SUBSIDIZE THEM AS THEY SEE FIT.

TELL the IMMODERATE "DEMS" they can shove PUblic subsidies to insurance companies WITHOUT THE COST CONTROL the PUBLIC OPTION will provide.

I've heard there are four Democratic Senators who may kill the public option, even with the opt-out provisionin the bill. There's

Mary Landriew, Louisiana,

Ben Nelson (D-Neb.),

Mark Pryor (D-Ark.),

The only way I can come up with four is if they count Joe "the turd" Lieberman, who is really a fucking REpublican and shouldn't be counted on for decent moral humane behavior anyway.

I suggest people bury these individuals with emaIls (go to www.conrgress.org - they make it easy for your) and tell them if they must protect the profits of the insurance companies then use the opt-out provision so they only screw the people of their own states. That way at least they won't be fucking the people in the rest of the country.

Killing the public option will be one of most dispicable acts the Republicans have pulled off since the rape of Democracy in the 2000 Presidential election. We CANNOT SUBSIDIZE FOR PROFIT INSURANCE COMPANIES WITHOUT A PUBLIC OPTION TO PROVIDE COMPETITION AND TO KEEP THE INSURANCE COMPANIES FROM RAISING RATES AT WILL.

REPUBLICANS SALIVATE OVER SOCIALIZED CAPITALISM AND PUBLIC SUPPORT OF CORPORATE PROFITS, BUT IT ISN'T PRACTICAL AND DOESN'T WORK IN THE LONG RUN. NO SOCIALIZED PROFITEERING IN THE HEALTH CARE INSURANCE INDUSTRY. KEEP THE PUBLIC OPTION IN THE HCR BILL - WITHOUT IT, HEALTH CARE REFORM IS A FRAUD.
