BRITISH government officials raised the prospect of toppling Saddam Hussein two years before Allied troops invaded Iraq but rejected the idea in case it was illegal, an inquiry has heard.

Sir William Patey, who headed the Foreign and Commonwealth Office's Middle East department between 1999 and 2002, said the idea was raised in an internal departmental paper but was quickly dismissed on legal advice.

Sir William said while "drum beats" had been heard within the Bush administration about the need for a regime change in Iraq, British policy was to "stay away from that end of the spectrum" and stick with trying to contain Saddam.

"I have to say we even had at the end of it a regime change option ... which was dismissed at the time as having no basis in law," Sir William said.

2. yes...old news to some of us that were trying to warn everyone...

that the war in Iraq was a planned and staged event. That Bush and co and Blair were lying...that the wars were all about power and oil...and a way to rob us blind.
The ones that were told they had tin foil hats on and all those that tried to warn you all.....remember us?
We also told you at the time that 9-11 was a staged event..designed to allow passage of the Patriot Act and to allow endless wars in the Middle east and to take away the civil rights of the people and give more power to the federal government and the President.
We are the same ones that lately have been trying to tell you that the swine flu was a man made..phoney event...and not to stick that poison into your arms...
Well here we are again......still trying to warn that the plans of the New World Order have NOT changed...there will BE NO CHANGE..and we are still marching lock-step into the New World Order, the overthrowing of the Constitution and destruction of America along with population control.
Wake up dang it..we are STILL BEING PLAYED.
All that has changed is the faces of the front men.
The reasons for war with Saddam were illegal then and because the reasons now were lies...they are illegal now.
Oh yes..they are playing chess alright...and We the People are the expendable pawns.
We need to find the rare and few public officials and voices that are standing up for us and work with them.
