"Forced Labour and Rape, the New Face of Slavery in America" by Paul Harris
"Figures from the State Department reveal that 17,500 people are trafficked into the US every year against their will or under false pretences, mainly to be used for sex or forced labour. Experts believe that, when cases of internal trafficking are added, the total number of victims could be up to five times larger. And increasing numbers of trafficked individuals are being transported thousands of miles from America's coasts and into heartland states such as Ohio and Michigan."

2. The darker underbelly of the capitalist system.
The abuse of people for the sake of profits isn't limited to the legal workplace.

3. This is very real and very going on.
I used to work as an officer and a good friend is the head of the sexual assault education for the state and a national LEO trainer. She tells me that evidence seems to indicate that the problem is getting worse in the US with both immigrants and non immigrants.

I would never do this but I know who to talk to locally if I want a little slave of my own. It happens. It just isn't talked about in polite society - most folks just don't want to know.

7. been going on for years
the sex worker industry in vegas is overflowing with underage girls from eastern europe...and we've seen plenty of stories the past couple of years about imported maids and nannies forced to work and given horrible treatment....

4. So much for our borders or homeland security...
or all the spying on taxpayers...or the money we spend on the fbi and the cia...and we still cant stop this??....guess nothing works huh?
This only works because those in power are allowing it. period.
If a former employee of the sheriffs department claims they know "who to talk to" for a little slave of their own if they wanted one..then they damned well know enough to shut them down.

5. I agree.
Instead of bragging about it, why isn't their department coming down on the slavers like a ton of bricks? A touch of corruption, maybe?

8. It almost seems as if we should be putting more effort in to securing the border
rather than ignoring it as we have for decades.
