Why Won't Sarah Palin Go Away?
Edited on Thu Nov-19-09 05:56 AM by steven johnson
She's so bizarre, you just can't look away.

As a poster girl for Tea Bagging, the bimbo from the far right and far north just a wingnut's wet dream.

Her lingering corpse does seem odd, given she was slaughtered during the election, then drawn and quartered by the media after she left gubernatorial office—midway through her term—in Alaska.

She's no ordinary D-lister with a big mouth. She's an ordinary D-lister with a huge mouth, a mouth that knows exactly how to make people look, and keep looking, regardless of real substance.

There's the Palin-as-political-trainwreck angle, the Palin-for-2012 angle, the Palin-victim-of-sexism angle or the Levi-Johnston's-johnson angle, take your pick. The more the media reports on Palin, the bigger she gets, at least, in her own mind.

"She's the Real Housewives of New Jersey of politics," political consultant Eric Schmeltzer tells me.

1. Sarah Who?
It's just that simple to make her a non sequitur

Ignore her.

I personally find her amusing and I am certain that she will burn out rather quickly with the occasional pop up for our exceptionally lazy 24/7 media (which I include MSNBC) as she is a quick "stir the pot" (or react to the stirring of the pot by the other network) story which allows for the invitation of several talking heads to fill air time discussing her latest outrageous statement (whatever that might happen to be).

3. Exactly: Consign her sorry *ss to Oblivion!
It'll be interesting to see just how hard they'll push her
before they give up.

2. She won't go away because the media won't let her go away.
Does Nora O'Donnell have to be on location with her at a book signing in MI? Is there no other news to cover? Isn't our President in China? It's our media folks, they stink. They only bring us what they feel like covering.

8. That's our media...
During a worldwide economic crisis, an American president makes a grueling 9-day foreign trip to various Asian countries -- most of whom hold incredible amounts of American debt and are getting very twitchy about the declining dollar -- and the American public gets saturation media coverage about Going Rogue and protocol debates over bowing to foreign leaders.

10. I believe their motivation for doing this is because she's a corporate supremacist puppet.

Apparently they didn't get enough with George W. Bush because the Internet is still a growing, viable threat to their monopoly on information; and all the money, power and influence that goes with it.

Once you've become accustomed to shaping reality for millions if not tens or hundreds of millions of people, as has been the case especially since the advent of one way top down mass communication; radio and television, giving up that heady power must be exceptionally difficult.

Sarah Palin is their hope of turning the clock back; should they be successful in enabling her to power.

4. stop posting about her, we can't do much about the media
and their inability to discern and report new but we can all take responsibility and stop posting about this person. To my mind she's nearly as boring as the Queen of England or Jackie O was when I was growing up and getting almost as much media coverage as both of them put together.

I don't even use her name if the subject comes up. see how easy it is?

6. She's as popular in my part of GA today as in November
maybe more so.

There are still Sarah! stickers on a lot of cars, and my favorite - people cut the McCain off the tops of their McCain*Palin stickers, leaving Palin behind. I swear she'll win Georgia if she runs for Pres.

7. I had never even heard her name before McCain was forced to pick her.
And I wish I was still so blissfully ignorant. She's a disgrace to the human race.

11. We'll all get sick of her soon enough.
Anybody who loves the limelight like that soon gets annoying and boring.
