Free market flawed, says survey

Twenty years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, a new BBC poll has found widespread dissatisfaction with free-market capitalism.

In the global poll for the BBC World Service, only 11% of those questioned across 27 countries said that it was working well.

Most thought regulation and reform of the capitalist system were necessary.

Most people seem to say that capitalism is not bad per se, but in need of regulation.

Who would argue with that statement? Why is the argument re capitalism harder to grasp? :shrug:

3. Then perhaps there should be some regulation of capitalism.

Especially in those bastions of completely unbridled free-market capitalism, France and Mexico. I mean, how can people survive there with absolutely no government regulation? That must surely account for the mass exodus of people from those countries.
