The audacity of Obama
The audacity of Obama

November 4, 2009

SO FAR, the Obama administration seems about as narcissistic as the Bush administration in some of its worst days. Perhaps, a recent headline clarifies the point: "Gibbs saw 'genuine anguish' in faces of soldiers' families."

President Obama and press secretary Robert Gibbs claimed they were overwhelmed at the "genuine anguish" they saw in the faces of family members who were greeted at Obama's first trip to the Dover Air Force base, where the remains of American casualties from the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq are brought back to the U.S.

I wonder if Obama truly expected anything less than "anguish" for someone seeing there son or loved one come home dead in a box. Did he think they would be excited to see him?

So Obama has opted for some coverage of flag-draped coffins. Americans have seen these sad pictures before, but are they allowed to see a single picture of carnage caused by U.S. imperialism by the use of unimaginable "predator drones" over Pakistan?

These same drones, that can kill hundreds of people, are not considered terrorism by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. During her recent trip to Pakistan, a car bomb exploded killing 160 people, maiming more and creating a scene of mass carnage that looked like a photo straight from hell. Clinton did not comment on the incident.

The same president who promised the nation that he would close the Guantánamo Bay prison has not yet done so--and is also the same president who signed a law that would suppress all photos of horrific abuse of detainees. Oddly, this man received a Nobel Peace Prize only shortly after signing the most expensive war bill in world history.

2. The audacity of Obama by the Dem Tea Party group
He have to run a country. you only run a blog,He see the danger. You only see blogs. I put my life and country in Obama hand, thank you.
You can't just leave those people with a nuclear bomb with out protection from the tailban.
Both country is tied together, In order to protect one you have to stable the other.
Why is that so hard to understand. If they want the drones to stop killing people they need to turn in the tailban. That way all the killing stop the drones and the bombing.
Obama trying to close G.Bay it the congress. With our troop over there why will you make it hard for them by showing photos. You say Obama don't care, seem to me you don't care, if you think showing the death of their people won't enrage them to kill as many of our people. You are sure in sane.
Let's not think like the Tea party crazy, Dem is smarter than that. But I have to admit Dem being sounding like the Tea party people, (He not doing this right, He soft, he not working fast enough, why have'nt he pass health care, why have'nt he save the world) Just crazy noise every day form the Dem tea party group)

3. Torture is wrong.
Metal caskets coming back from Afghanistan draped in plastic flags Made-In-China.

Plastic flags and a phto OP do not make it right.

BTW.. your command of English.. it sound very broken... like, "Why haven't he pass health care?"

"But I have to admit Dem sounding like the Tea party people"

Huh?

8. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us.
Despite the rudeness of some here, your point is well taken, even if you're new to the English language and I don't agree with you. Welcome to DU.

5. Theater. For prime time. But we DO NOT get to see the REALITY SHOW even though it
would meet all of the requirements for today's successful TeeVee: handsome men and women warriors, evil enemies in turbans carrying AK's, action, explosions, automatic weapons, blood, body parts, anguish, crying friends, crying spouses, crying mothers and fathers, crying innocents with dead babies, tough decisions with harsh consequences being made by stony-faced generals in safe locations, politicians wringing their hands, politicians making pious statements about "genuine anguish", politicians voting to send more handsome men and women into the meat grinder.

Oh, that's right. We can only show that stuff on "24".

Recommend.

9. I feel your pain...
I feel your pain photo op, now let's send more soldiers to die for the oil pipelines. Obama is just repackaging of an old product and nothing more, he serves the same masters the previous administration did and it's not the American people.
