Obama Strategy on Health Care Legislation Appears to Be Paying Off
Obama Strategy on Health Care Legislation Appears to Be Paying Off
By ROBERT PEAR and SHERYL GAY STOLBERG

After earlier fits and starts, legislation to insure nearly all Americans is approaching votes in the House and in the Senate.

2. health INSURANCE reform is NOT what Obama campaigned on
A mandate to purchase expensive insurance was not part of "Change We Can Believe In".

There is a wide gulf between health insurance reform and provision of healthcare within an actual healthcare system. We have no "system", we have a "market", owned by ______.

3. +1.
I still hope that the mandate will change before the final version. That is a very unpopular aspect of the current health reform plans. Making it affordable so people want to sign up is the key, and that will provide the competition necessary to bring down prices.
