All You Need to Know About the ACORN Scandal and Who Is Behind It

Andrew Breitbart says he cares a lot about the truth, but it appears that's only true when he isn't the one being questioned.

You remember Breitbart as Matt Drudge's junior partner, the proprietor of BigGovernment.com, and, apparently, babysitter for juvenile delinquents James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles, the conservative, hidden-camera-wielding duo that went undercover to obtain footage of low-level ACORN staffers.

They continued their media assault yesterday at the National Press Club. With assists from Republican Congressmen Steve King and Thad McCotter, Fox News and the aforementioned Andrew Breitbart, O'Keefe and Giles unleashed their most recent attack.

Let's review their story:

O'Keefe, dressed as a pimp, and Giles, disguised as a prostitute, visited ACORN offices where they asked for assistance purchasing a home. They claimed to have difficulty documenting income derived from the streets. But they had so much money! In fact, it wasn't just the two of them -- they had a whole crew of underage girls from El Salvador turning tricks for them. Hell, they had so much money, they needed help laundering it for the pimp's run for Congress.

Now let's tell the truth.

The truth is that O'Keefe never wore the pimp outfit into an ACORN office. Instead, he posed as a candidate for Congress that wanted to help a young woman caught in the trappings of prostitution. Supposedly, he wanted to help her, and her fellow prostitutes, escape the clutches of a brutal pimp by finding a place for them to live.

=snip=

Finally, in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hz8hwqkbERk">the second video, we learn all we need to know.

After hiding behind the lawsuit and using it as a shield to deflect questions they did not want to answer, they refuse to commit to releasing every full and unedited tape they have in exchange for ACORN dropping all of its lawsuits.

If they really wanted the truth out there, why do they need to edit these tapes in the first place? Why aren't the unedited videos already in the public domain?

Check out how uncomfortable his question makes O'Keefe and Giles look at the end of part 2. Their body language gives it all away.

6. Actually, that was only part of the reason.

Yes, the Republicans are pissed that Acorn registered so many people for the last election cycle, and would do so in the 2010 elections as well. But the main goal of the hitjob on Acorn is to disable their ability to participate in the 2010 Census, as the GOP fears that the damage to the Republican party will be far greater by having an accurate count of the poor and of minorities than registering people to vote. This is all about the 2010 Census and the upcoming redistricting.

7. So it comes down to political manipulation on their part..trying, once again, to undermine
the elections by controlling who votes....and how many representatives are in Congress for the poorer..and mostly Democratic districts.

9. Precisely.
Republicans want to keep white, rich districts fully represented and keep the poor or minority districts under-represented in the 2010 Census.

10. Recommended, bookmared. please keep us informed on this demonic duo.

THats a wonderful question. Why do the want to keep the unedited tapes protected from scrutiny. What worries me isthat they may have edited out any parts they don't want anyonee to see.

13. Excellent work from Mike Stark ~
Why does it take an independent journalist to challenge these deceivers? Ordinary people like mzmolly and otheres, were able to take apart that story from the beginning, but the MSM, as soon as the story began to fall apart, dropped it and left the public with the lies told by these students of Karl Rove.

Thanks to all the bloggers who refused to accept at face value, anything coming from Fox, Breitbart, O'Keefe and the daughter of a Town Hall Republican 'writer'.

Once O'Keefe and Giles started refusing to talk to the media, they should have pursued that story further.

Fox, Karl Rove, O'Keefe, Hannity, Breitbart, did the media really believe that these were credible sources? Especially after they were proven to be liars regarding at least two of the offices they had visited.

ACORN should not drop their lawsuit to get the unedited videos. They can and should subpoena them in court. Don't make any deals with this slime, make it all happen in a venue where they cannot lie. And both California and MD should prosecute them for violating their laws.

Cowards that they are, they are hiding behind that lawsuit now. This slime and their predecessors, Rove, Norquist et al, have and continue to contribute to the ruination of this country.

And shame on the Democrats who rushed to act on these lies. That was one of the most shameful, and there is plenty for Congress to be ashamed of, acts that Democrats participated in in Congress.

Thanks for the OP, Turborama K&R
