BEE BRANCH | ... Since neither the Olympics nor the awarding of a Nobel are .. partisan political issues, it is very telling that the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and Bill Kristol, not to mention such prominent Republicans as U.S. Rep. Mike Pence, reveled in losing the Olympics, while many in the same political camp were beside themselves at the prospect of Obama getting a Nobel Prize.
The reactions from the right are just one more example that it is Obama himself — not his policies, not his stand on the issues — that they have a problem with. For whatever reason there is an almost visceral rejection of Obama afoot in the land, from the “Birthers,” who claim he isn’t qualified by birth to be president to “Teabaggers” who parade around with signs calling him a socialist, communist and Nazi.
But when this hatred of our duly elected president leads people to pull against the country getting the Olympic Games and belittle a fellow citizen, albeit the most powerful one in the land, for getting perhaps the most prestigious award in the world, isn’t that, well, anti-American?
Love it or leave it, I say.
