"If you're wondering why feminists are raging against George W. and his fundamentalist ilk, listen to a paraphrase of the actual messages women hear every exhausting day:

"Society is going to hell for two reasons: selfish poor women are staying home with their welfare brats, and selfish middle-class women are working outside the home instead of tending to their stressed-out children.

"Workplaces are doing women a favor by letting them in the door. The dearth of affordable child care -- even in the wake of a huge welfare reform -- is your problem and yours alone. Women are solely responsible for "balancing" work and family (your unreasonable demands for equality created this problem, after all) because our economy works better in the short term if men don't have a second shift.

"The rising rates of cancer and autism are a bummer, but environmental cleanup and reducing our dependence on fossil fuel would be a lot of work. Plus, reconsidering foreign relations from a creative, nonmilitary perspective sounds scary. What if our foreign counterparts say, 'You govern like a girl'?"

And males sometimes wonder why we females are the way we are. If anything goes wrong with our kids or marriages, it's our fault. But somehow we don't get any credit when things go right.
