Kathryn Jean Lopez, editor of National Review Online, noted that a number of the signs carried by the group seemed to be using the word "choice" not to mean "the freedom to choose," but as a synonym for "kill."
As in, "I wish Barbara Bush had a choice available to her."
Indeed, Lopez reports that if the march had a focus, it was one giant anti-President Bush rally. At a pre-march rally Saturday night, the aforementioned Rep. Waters said that "George Bush can go to hell, and take Donald Rumsfeld and John Ashcroft with him." If you didn't think congresswomen talked like that in public, well, there are some congresswomen you don't know much about.
Here's another sign: "Pro-life is to Christianity as al-Qaida is to Islam."
In fact, Lopez reports on some signs in the rally that I simply can't reprint in this newspaper.

Silent No More's women show up at pro-abortion rallies dressed in black to hold up signs saying, "I regret my abortion" or "Women need love, not abortion." They are sometimes joined by men who carry signs saying, "I regret my lost fatherhood."
As Forney, the group's leader, told National Public Radio, "The most common chant (the marchers) sang when they saw our signs was, 'Pro-life, that's a lie, you don't care if women die." I found that ironic because I had just heard about a 15-year-old girl who died in Detroit from an abortion and the abortionist didn't seem to care about her, based on the newspaper article I read.
http://www.pressherald.com/viewpoints/harmon/040503harmon.shtmlI think I'm going to scream! I've had words with this writer in the past. I think it's time to respond to him again - once I calm down.
I was at the march. He wasn't!
