3. They took the audience for granted.

Clinking champagne glasses at the WH correspondents' dinner, palling around with Rove (terrorist), hosting matchmaking parties for politicians and lobbyists.. somehow they believed, through it all, that the public would happily continue to lap up whatever bullshit du jour they served.

As I've said before a journalist is a writer who writes what his editor tells him to write while a blogger writes what he or she actualy damn well believes.
