Cornyn: Limbaugh and Gingrich’s attacks on Sotomayor are ‘terrible.’ Soon after President Obama nominated Judge Sonia Sotomayor to replace Justice David Souter on the Supreme Court, right-wing luminaries like Newt Gingrich and Rush Limbaugh attacked her as a “racist.” But some Republican lawmakers are trying to distance themselves from that argument. On NPR’s All Things Considered yesterday, Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) called that attacks “terrible.” “Neither one of these men are elected Republican officials. I just don’t think it’s appropriate and I certainly don’t endorse it. I think it’s wrong,” said Cornyn. Listen here:
