Paul Krugman: 'The Mercury Scandal'

If you want a single example that captures why so many people no longer believe in the good intentions of the Bush administration, look at the case of mercury pollution.

1. Paul K Does it again
"...the administration proposal would perpetuate mercury pollution where it does the most harm. That probably means thousands of children born with preventable neurological problems..."

Once again, Paul K goes to the heart of the matter. Where are the Pro-Lifers? Why are they silent about thousands of deformed children being born? I know they hate kids once they come out, but I thought they were always gung ho for the fetus!

2. And not a peep today in the media about the 60 minutes story
last night. It wasn't about mercury pollution. It was about coal mining industry's pat on the wrist for their pollution in Appalachia and the government whistle blower's dismissal because he refused to sign off on the watered down report.

3. That story was in the WP I think
a few months ago. It would be nice to see it go around again though.

4. Good column, but
As usual Krugman 'Nails it!". However I would have preferred that he take a look at that last jobs report and poke some big holes in it.
