If humans want to bob their noses, augment their breasts, pierce their bodies, or enter any of several thousand beauty and “fitness” contests, it’s their decision. But, to subject a dog to butchery because of imperious “breed standards” and pseudo-medical beliefs is nothing less than cruelty, and must be condemned.

Pooches ears and tails are perfect as created.

2. Unfortunately, dog breeders have been at it for thousands of years

...and the results sometimes require a bit of modification.

I've owned several boxers over the years. As puppies, they can barely see because they are born with huge floppy ears that go over their eyes. Their tails are a menace because they grow to the size and weight of a broomstick, easily clearing a coffee table of its entire contents.

Hence, both are cropped when they're young.
