Karl Rove on White House "Attack" on Rush Limbaugh
"The White House Misfires on Limbaugh” is the title of a column by Karl Rove in today’s Wall Street Journal, in which he criticizes the recent White House “attack” on Rush Limbaugh and claims that it was meant as a diversionary tactic to keep the public from focusing on more important issues. Here is the comment I posted. (Don’t hold your breath waiting for it to appear.)

This is all very interesting, coming from Mr. Rove. Truly the pot calling the kettle black. I agree that the White House should not have gone after Limbaugh, but for a different reason. With all his ranting, promoting the "big lie", distortions and hate-mongering, he is not just the "entertainer” he claims to be. He is more Josef Goebbels than George Goebel. This attack helps legitimize Limbaugh as a member of the public commentariat, as does the WSJ by running his columns. He should be ostracized as the pariah he truly is. Shame on the White House and shame on you.
(end of comment)

Listening to Limbaugh recently, he has suddenly become all sweetness and light, while still continuing his lies and distortions. I argued against going after Limbaugh, but who listens to me? This wasn’t just a misfire, it has backfired!

1. This has done everything but backfire
It has defined Jabba the butt cyst as the face of the GOP. That is wonderful for the 30%. The other 40% (we got the other 30%) is repulsed even more by the butt cyst who they want no association with. Hence they don't want to be associated with the GOP. Polls support this.

3. being manipulated
I thought attacking Limbaugh was a bad idea long before today. I agree with Rove's conclusion, not his argument.

6. You are correct
The White House made two tepid statements about the talking ass boil and bloated Nazi propagandist.
The President said Republicans would be wise not to follow his lead and Rahm Emanuel said he was the voice and intellectual power behind the Republican Party. That hardly constitutes an attack.
Their cognitive dissonance is catching up to them. It's hard to continue spouting two conflicting thoughts and retain sanity. Lying has a price.

10. My reaction to the replies
Did anybody actually read the comment I submitted to the WSJ? We are the 30% who abhor Limbaugh (and Rove). 30% are dittoheads and not receptive to logical arguments. It is the remaining 40% that I am concerned with. Will they listen to Frum and Brooks? I hope so, but we shouldn't assume it is a done deal.

11. Have a little respect
Why is the national media not picked up on the fact that this whole President Bush supporters have Zero respect for the office of President. You see Rove, Limbaugh, Hannity, etc you continue to call President Obama "Mr Obama". Not only do they have no respect for our country in publically wanting our country to fail but have no repsect for the office of president. I am a Desert Storm Vet and if I were to EVER call a sgt or a officer "MR" that is like the ultimate disrespect and that is exactly what these USA hating idiots are doing.
