Writers: Leave the GOP alone. Focus on Progress.
I know it’s hard to resist, and I’ve been struggling with this myself, but I think too much ink is being wasted responding to Republicans when left-leaning writers could be using that energy to, instead, put forth good ideas...

Web writers need to remember that we have a different role than the pundit shows and cable news...

Our mission, now, is a forward-thinking one. Ours is to write, support and forward new, progressive ideas. It’s up to us left-leaning writers to seize this moment...

2. There is plenty of ink for both.
I don't accept that we can't 'move forward' and 'look back' at the same time. In fact I think we can hardly do one without the other.

Seems like it is only those with something to lose advocate 'moving on.' Why not just come out and say it? "The law shouldn't apply to us."

3. as long as the GOP has a talk radio monopoly to dominate and
undermine the feedback mechanisms a democracy must have to move forward we will still be doing a lot of backstepping, no matter how hard progressives try. it is the biggest megaphone and soapbox in the country and its mission is to sabotage democracy and progress and enable flat earthers whose time is long past. and it is invisible to most progressives. deal with it first

4. Oh, hell no! "seize this moment" to finish this bunch off.
Our goal should be to completely and forever neuter the GOP during the 2010 election cycle. Most of it they do will do themselves, but we need to be there and stoke the fires.

5. There may be more to it than that
The republican party has not been satisfactorily exonerated from acting as the enablers to a ruling corporate elite bent on looting the US economy,.... with Bush as the Enabler-in-Chief. Nor has the GOP been adequately cleared of treasonous acts in the outing of Valerie Plame,... nor of unconstitutional "above-the-law" behavior in Iraq, Gitmo or with the CIA renditions. I could go on. But getting to the bottom of something MEANS getting to the bottom of it. That is all.

Imprison the neocons AND escape their disaster
