Need a Pick Me up Article:? "The Coming Republican Rout"
It is only late March and the Republicans already are dead meat, from President George W. Bush through the Congress. Right now, the only question is not if the Democrats will do well in the coming election, but how well can they do. In my mind, it is not impossible for the Democrats to win back majorities in the House and Senate, along with easily winning the presidency.

I write this with some trepidation, as anytime one goes out on a limb to make bold predictions, there is always the danger of an "eat crow" moment. Moreover, while the Republicans are going to get what is coming to them, the agenda of the Democrats, from John Kerry on down, is hardly reassuring for one who wishes against hope for the return of the free society.

These bold predictions (which even Democrats will not make in public) are based partly on the results of the post-attack elections in Spain, where Muslim bombers were able to change the course of the vote simply by killing a lot of people at once. Despite all of the bold "stay the course" talk from Republicans and their operatives in the media, U.S. voters are not going to stay any course if we have a mass attack in this country before November – which I am willing to predict is very likely to happen.

1. I wouldn't call that a pick-me-up
Did you read it to the end? The author is quite firmly tethered to the turf, IMO.

Spanish election:
"Muslim bombers were able to change the course of the vote simply by killing a lot of people at once."

The Republican (and some of the SCLM) spin is that the "terrorists won" in the general election because the Socialists defeated the Conservatives.

The conservatives could still have won if they hadn't tried to lie to the Spanish electorate about ETA being behind the bombs when the evidence pointed towards Al-Q.

Even when Al-Q had admitted/claimed responsibility they were still trying to pin it on ETA.

Lie to your electorate and they have the option of voting you out if the find out.

Let that be a lesson to you Bush/Blair. (Much as I hate to include Blair in this as I'm a steadfast Labour party member...)

So a victory for terrorists no.

Victory for an electorate who don't like being blatently lied to - yes.

FACT: the "PP" tried to spin the terrorist bombing to their advantage. I saw several members of their government attempting this line day after day upto and including the day of their general election trying to pin this on ETA.

An email even went out to their diplomatic staff pushing this line - AFTER it was known Al-Q had admitted responsibility.

Lies, and the lying liars...

5. There is some truth here--isn't "GOP spin"
The fact is that GOP policies are really endangering the nation and undermining its global influence. People will not like this as it continues. People will vote for a change. That's not GOP spin. It's absolutely true: GOP policies are putting lives at risk.

6. This presupposes clean voting systems
Which Imperial Amerika DOES NOT HAVE.

Yes, in a Free Nation with a Free Press, I would likely agree with Lew. But Imperial Amerika has neither of those things, either.

Kerry must win by 10% to "win" by 1% in the Official Bushevik Results.

I think the cheating is too great for us to reasonably hope to take back House or Senate.

If Kerry wins and we pick up a Senate Seat along with a handful of House seats, then I'm guessing Lew was right.

In Imperial Amerika, that is the equivalent of a landslide in a Free Nation.
