Delayed Justice for Political Reasons, in Palin's Alaska
Sherry Johnston, the other Grandmother to Bristol Palin’s son, was arrested in December, but reports now show that the evidence was collected in September and October, enough time to have had her arrested during the election. There’s no evidence as yet that political considerations and Alaskan government corruption were involved. Not yet.

1. Well, I wouldn't be surprised if the arresting/indicting folks took that low and slow.
I mean, really.

It's their governor's future son-in-law's mother.

It's a small state, fewer than a million people total. Everyone in public life knows one another.

They probably figured they were helping out the governor, and maybe building political capital if she won.

Frankly, I'd have been SHOCKED if they'd arrested the woman before election day. Even if they had yards of video tape and a thousand confessions.

Making note of these fairly obvious observations does not suggest that I endorse the actions. Don't shoot the messenger.

3. You are correct, of course
We should have expected nothing else. Which still makes it a corrupt practice, of course.

2. Our side would have done it, too.
As election chicanery goes, this is pretty much of a nothing.

4. My daughter is a DEA agent, and sometimes the cases go
painfully slow, to make sure they succeed in court. Maybe they were trying to (or succeeding in) flipping her first....moving up the line in the drug chain...

5. No indication here
that there were any reasons to keep this case going slow and steady beyond political reasons. Still, if they had charged the grandmom of soon-to-be-born Lugnut during the election, the right wing would have had a conspiracy theory holiday which could have motivated their dwindling base.
