Taking a Stand on Prop 8: Opposing It Is Just Plain Right
This is the moral issue of our day and it’s important that all of us – gay, straight, and “decline to state” – take our stand.

1. It's worrisome that Prop 8 seems to be succeeding
Looks like the Religious Right might succeed in jamming its jaundiced view of the world down California's throat.

2. Maybe too many feel this is not their fight
I guess a large percentage of people only care about the issues they think will have a direct impact on them personally.

5. If they do, they're blind.
Everybody knows gay and lesbian people -- as friends, family members, coworkers. Its like that famous old saying from Nazi Germany. "First they came for the gypsies, and nobody complained, then...and last, they came for me, and there was nobody left to defend me."

6. Everybody knows someone who is a member of the LGBT community but. . . .
even when they know or even care about someone in that community, they seem to be blind to the harm inflicted by a society that ostracizes people - not for something they've done wrong but simply for being who they are

I think polls have it losing by 5 percentage points right now
