"Yes on California Proposition 2" by my 9 year old Daughter

My 9 year old daughter feels very strongly about animal rights, and she wrote this editorial for her 4th grade class regarding California's Proposition 2, which would ban inhumane treatment of farm animals. (Note that her editorial is more of a comment on the vegetarian aspect of being humane to animals).

YES ON PROPOSITION 2:

If you eat cow, how could you eat your own dog or cat that you love like a baby! If you eat a chicken and you like it, then think about how it -- how would you like to be eaten and said that you were yummy? It would be very upsetting to you! Think about it -- it would not be fun to be a cow or a chicken. Vote Yes on Proposition 2!

Her editorial says it all!

I have two daughters ( ages 7, 8) and they are totally appalled when we talk about how hamburger
is a cow and chicken...really is a chicken. They are disgusted!

Makes you wonder if being a vegetarian is a natural state? My girls are aghast that people eat animals.

I think it's pretty cool that they feel this way.

2. Simplistic view on the world - but adorable

I admit to having a double standard on what animal i'll eat.
I could never eat cat, dog, rabbit, or any K9. Rats, or any rodent (but have fed fish to a snake).
I have no problem eating cow, duck, chicken, pork, or buffalo....

however, I V E R Y much believe these animals M U S T be treated humanly.

They are our food source, and it's just not right to treat them cruelly.
way I see it, they're going to die, by our hand, for our greed/need. They should have good lives to that point.

That and happy meat just tastes better :)
