8 reasons why Obama might loose
Source: Chicago Tribune

In January 2005, just after Barack Obama was sworn in as a United States senator from Illinois, I published eight reasons why he'd run for president in 2008. Then in January of 2007, just before he officially announced his candidacy, I published eight reasons why he'd win the Democratic nomination.

This week, to finish the cycle, I'll give you a pair of eight-reasons columns about Obama: Today, why he might lose Nov. 4. And Thursday, why he'll win.

...

6.The economy now looks more like a chronic woe than an urgent crisis. This has allowed McCain to settle into an anti-tax, anti-spend, anti-liberal campaign groove that often works for Republicans.

4. The best way to capture an audience's attention
is to talk about the possibility of an Obama loss. He got our attention for a few seconds, good for him. I personally am not the least bit worried. I KNOW Obama will win this election. All of our bases are covered.

My favorite rhetoric at the moment is hearing about Palin being a "rogue".}( }(

7. Since we need a landslide this election
Let us make every effort to rebut these eight points in every discussion we engage in.

1."Bittergate."
2.He's played too much defense.
3.He was more dismissive than responsive to festering issues.
4.He left points on the table.
5.Biden's blunder.
6.The economy now looks more like a chronic woe than an urgent crisis.
7. Smoke.
8. He's African-American.

Eric Zorn seems to be grasping to come up with eight reasons if these are the best he can do.

11. Job justification
Wow. I guess he was just really hard-up for a column to write. This election is, practically speaking, over. Obama is running out the clock. This guy is just filling space and time to justify his time.

1. Bittergate? Anyone seriously turned off by those comments wouldn't have voted for him anyway.
2. Too much defense? He's keeping true to style, AND he hasn't needed to hit McCain. Keating video shows he's ready if needed, but why get too negative if you don't need to?
3. Too dismissive? Because the issues were small and irrelevant.
4. Left points? See #2 response. He hasn't needed to go there.
5. Biden blunder? Soooooo weak it barely warrants response.
6. Economy? Laughable. Anti-tax, anti-liberal falsehoods aren't helping this year. People are believing Obama's message on taxes, not McCain's.
7. Smoke? Susceptible to nutty rumors? Did he watch the debates and the debate reactions?
8. Race? It is absurd. People are only talking about how he may lose so they can have something to talk about, plus recent failures by White democratic candidates to win elections.

None of these meet the criteria of what might make him lose.

Verdict on this column: :boring:

16. "lose"
Not "loose."

Sorry, I never do this, but I have seen this one too many times. I don't ever remember seeing this in the past, but it is an epidemic now.

The opposite of win is lose.

The opposite of tight is loose.
