Rolling Stone: The Return of Rove. (RS hits Rove hard.)
http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/story/23482821/the_return_of_rove/print

Check out this paragraph (warning obscene language). Try throwing this out at your unashamed Republican friends:

"Rove is not a genius, or even very clever: He's totally and completely immoral. It doesn't take genius to claim, as Rove ludicrously did last fall, that it was the Democrats in Congress and not George W. Bush who pushed the Iraq War resolution in 2002. It doesn't take brains to compare a triple-amputee war veteran to Osama bin Laden; you just have to be a mean, rotten cocksucker."

1. THANK YOU... the Man is a Disgrace, a Coward and a Traitor to his own country
why traitor? Because he outed a CIA agent for political purposes. A CIA agent of many working for a front group that monitored the black market on nuclear proliferation. Nah... he proved he wanted to destroy their program, a program that protected America.

2. Oooh. Good one!
Rove is no genius. He's just evil and always has been. EVen Poppy Bush fired Rove for his dirty tricks in 1992.

4. My favorite line (and oh so true)...
One of the most remarkable aspects of Rove's career is the way the media consistently respond to being lied to, pissed on and manipulated by Rove: They stroke his already swollen gonads even more, hailing him as a singular political genius.

Excellent article. I hate Rove.

7. The "media" is simply reading the RNC faxes, which not surprisingly Rove helps write.

Rove is a self-proclaimed "genius" always has been.

edit: I bet the only one who really believes him is his bff W.

5. Taibbi is damn good.
And getting better.

"The reason Rove continues to survive is the same reason that Johnnie Cochran was called a genius for keeping a double-murderer on the golf course — because this generation of Americans has become so steeped in greed and social Darwinism that it can no longer distinguish between cheating and achieving, between enterprise and crime, and can't bring itself to criticize winners any more than it knows how to be nice to losers. He survives because an increasing number of Americans secretly agree with Rove's vision of rules, laws and "the truth" as quaint, faintly embarrassing rituals that only a sucker would let hold him back."

12. this is what that article about Politico said
....that the players in Washington believe in the power of "savvy" -- that being "savvy" is the ultimate goal.

8. Only when he has been soundly defeated in a National election...
and convicted for the high crimes and treason he has done like his mentor, Segretti-will he cease. This is why impeachment should never been taken off the table.

10. People -- & that term is questionable -- like Rove appear to be geniuses when
their opponents are morally superior & wouldn't lower themselves to one-up the assaults.

And in the "you can fool all the people some of the time" category, the Rethugs' idea of buying up the media to make the boy king & his cabal look legitimate is no longer working. Only a quarter of the population is languishing in stupidity.

13. Rove carries on the worst of Lee Atwater, Atwater repented
and admitted what a slime he really was:

Atwater apologizes
Shortly before his death from a brain tumor, Atwater said he had converted to Catholicism, through the help of Fr. John Hardon, S.J.,<10> and, in an act of repentance, Atwater issued a number of public and written letters to individuals to whom he had been opposed during his political career, including Dukakis. In a letter to Tom Turnipseed dated June 28, 1990, he stated, "It is very important to me that I let you know that out of everything that has happened in my career, one of the low points remains the so-called 'jumper cable' episode," adding, "my illness has taught me something about the nature of humanity, love, brotherhood and relationships that I never understood, and probably never would have. So, from that standpoint, there is some truth and good in everything."<11>

In a February 1991 article for Life Magazine, Atwater wrote:
My illness helped me to see that what was missing in society is what was missing in me: a little heart, a lot of brotherhood. The '80s were about acquiring — acquiring wealth, power, prestige. I know. I acquired more wealth, power, and prestige than most. But you can acquire all you want and still feel empty. What power wouldn't I trade for a little more time with my family? What price wouldn't I pay for an evening with friends? It took a deadly illness to put me eye to eye with that truth, but it is a truth that the country, caught up in its ruthless ambitions and moral decay, can learn on my dime. I don't know who will lead us through the '90s, but they must be made to speak to this spiritual vacuum at the heart of American society, this tumor of the soul.

14. I remember that
a lot of people thought it was crap but I believed in the end Mr. Atwater did see the light - he felt ashamed when some of the very people he had slimed offered Lee and his family sympathy and help during the hideous illness that killed him
