New Political Wisdom: Thou Shalt Not Go Negative Against a Comedian
GOP candidate Norm Coleman is running onlynegative ads against Al Franken, and the strategy is pushing Coleman’s negatives. His strategy doesn’t factor the intelligence of MN voters, who know already Franken was a comedian. Coleman must go positive to win, but he’s a member of the GOP, so the cance of that happening are nil.

2. Good margin
and there's some good evidence that the negative campaigning by Coleman is what is pushing Franken ahead.

Oh, he's going to make a nice refreshing Senator.

3. 34 is an incredibly bad number for an incumbent.

5. All the tried and true GOP policies
from their insane economic dogma to their reliance on campaign smears no longer work.

It's been a long time coming and it's beautiful to see.

The smug, superior expressions are slowly turning to sheer panic as the awful truth begins to dawn on even the dimmest of their bulbs that the party's over.

7. Here's one reason his ads are failing:

The Coleman attacks using old SNL footage are backfiring because Minnesota voters are smarter than Norm Coleman gives them credit for.

Hard to hate someone based on SNL. Most people of all stripes who have become adults since the seventies understand of that kind of satiric sketch comedy pretty well. They 'get it', unlike Coleman. SNL is currently scoring against Palin/McCain and I'm sure that's in many people's mind as well. It seems Negative ads just aren't working anymore. I'm in a state(WA)where both the gov candidates are going negative on each other and it's just pissing everybody off.

Go Franken!

8. You are correct
The more Tina Fey scores against Palin and McCain, the more Franken looks smart and viable. He's riding an SNL wave.

10. Yes SNL is very popular this year.
One of the joys of my misspent youth was sneaking up after my folks had gone to bed to watch the old SNL in the 70's. I've not watched it since the original cast left many years ago, but perhaps I need to go and check it out again :).

9. Pete Tagliani for Senate!!!
Winston Adcock is out of a job!
Hey MN, elect Franken, and you do us all a favor. Al is one of my favorite Democrats. He is one of the few that has not just my support but my heart.

11. Well
It is nice to see someone going for the heart. Personally, he has my funny bone wrapped up in a series of clown noses, and stuffed in a drawer. But that's OK.
