We're a tiny state; I know him, respect him, volunteered for him, and just wrote him the following:
Dear friend, Congressman Welch,
“Some people will ask of this Congress, what were we thinking? Why did we give $700 billion bailout to Wall Street without fixing what caused the problem in the first place? Why did we rig the free markets for security fraudsters? Why didn’t we explore alternatives to let Wall Street solve its own problems? Why didn’t we have money save millions of homeowners, create millions of jobs, and a green economy? Why didn’t we stop the speculators? Why wasn’t there accountability? Why didn’t we take time to make an intelligent decision?
“Why? Why? Why?”
On this, Congressman Kucinich speaks clearly for me.
IMHO, this latest ACT-NOW-NOW-NOW OR YOU'LL BE EATING YOUR HOUSE PETS BY THE WEEKEND "incident" is, like the current two wars, yet another amoral, cynical shock.doctrine, black ops manipulation of our dangerously disappearing democracy. There was/is no crisis they weren't / aren't handling (that's why the company calls them "handlers"). We've let them outsource the wars to Haliburton, and now, the economy to the houses of Morgan & Goldman. I certainly don't see any conflict of interest, do you Congressman?
Peter, this just burns my soul. I was so proud of your initial NO vote on the bail out. The progressive left and the ethical right had a majority for a millisecond there on Monday. I saw Ike sit straight up in Gettysburg, and I heard General Smedley Butler as he stood in his crypt and played a trumpet's charge. But then, for 30 pieces of silver and some help for the arrow industry, you opened your fingers and let it slip away.
I still love ya, Peter, but I am grieving somethin' bad tonight, Sir.
