Bluegrass Legend Ralph Stanley Endorses Obama !
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/virginiapolitics/2008/09/post_89.html?nav=rss_blog

The Stanley Brothers have been cultural icons in Appalchia for decades. There is great potential here for a terrific Obama commercial. The fact that peple like Ralph Stanley and Toby Keith feel comfortable coming out for Obama given the culture they operate in says a whole lot to me. Screw the polls....

Here's Ralph in action--- real old-style mountain bluegrass.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwIzbjY0T6A&feature=related

4. Ralph Stanley's endorsement means a lot to me
Toby Keith, not so much.

My dad played the fiddle in one of the Okie bands in CA's central valley back in the 50's, but he always loved the old-time music.

I'd posted this late last week. It already dropped off the DU charts. Dr Stanley still carries a lotta weight in coal country.

Edit: to say: Rec #5 on on to the greatest!
