1. Another way your vote might not count...

If you go to the wrong polling place to vote and they either say you are registered to vote in a different precinct or they don't let you know. And then you demand to utilize the provisional voting procedure.

The provisional voting procedure is only valid and countable IF the voter is registered to vote at that location.

How to avoid the situation?

1) Verify your precinct and voting location. And then vote at the appropriate location.

2) Vote early at your local election office. (They will confirm your registration and provide the correct ballot.)

3) Vote by mail. (They will confirm your registration and provide the correct ballot.)

2. Because of the Electoral College system

if you vote for the Democrat in a state that goes for the Republican your vote doesn't count. And vice versa.
