A voter initiative in California is collecting signatures, calling for a “George W. Bush Sewage Treatment Plant,” in order to inspire discussion of the Iraq War. Republicans think the idea stinks.

Bush critics who enjoy fecal comparisons and view the President’s predicaments with malicious pleasure are rejoicing. As if it weren’t enough that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi called him “a total failure” (it even sounds pretty good in English) during a CNN interview, now we learn that a California voter initiative is pushing the idea of a “George W. Bush Sewage Treatment Plant.”

The Bush critics, calling themselves “The Presidential Memorial Committee of San Francisco,” have already collected more than 12,000 signatures, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. In November, San Franciscans will be able to vote whether or not the sewage facility should be known as the George W. Bush Sewage Treatment Plant in the future.

Naming it after Bush is supposed to get people to ask “Why?” and then “people can discuss the Iraq War and its causes,” according to Brian McConnell, the organizer of the referendum. “People tend to forget bad moments in history, and this is our way of ensuring that doesn’t happen.”
