Sex, drug scandal rocks US college (Oral Roberts)
-----

The 5300 students, who have their body fat tested regularly as part of a stern fitness regimen, are expected to attend chapel at least twice a week, keep their hair short, and sign pledges not to lie, swear, gamble, drink alcohol or engage in a number of sexual activities or homosexuality.

This last caveat must have been especially difficult for one of ORU's most famous alumni, Ted Haggard, a former head of the National Association of Evangelicals and married father of five, who was forced to resign last year after it was revealed he took methamphetamines and had sex with a man in Colorado.

The university has been engulfed in allegations of sinful behaviour by its president, Richard Roberts, who resigned a week ago - but only after being told to do so by God, he said on Thursday.

-----

They accused Richard Roberts of spending university money on himself and his family, including to buy expensive cars, keep a stable of horses on campus for the exclusive use of his children, remodel his home 11 times in 14 years and pay for one of his daughters to holiday in The Bahamas, using the university's private jet.

But the most salacious claims involve his wife, Lindsay Roberts, who is accused of spending large sums of university money on clothes and, according to the lawsuit, sending text messages on university phones, mostly between 1am and 3am, to "underage males".

4. You'd think that if God was going to tell Ricky to resign ...
... He would have called him sooner, and gave him a heads-up on the fact that he was about to have his finances investigated - not to mention the fact that his wife was getting overly-friendly with the boys.

I guess it must have slipped the Lord's mind ...
