5. Only someone who had a cruel, sadistic streak to their personality

would do something like this regardless what he had been smoking or drinking. The weed and alcohol didn't make him commit this horrible act. It was something deep in his personality and he probably has a history of similar acts that were not quite as heinous as this and therefore didn't get as much attention.
