Police Dog Left In Hot Car Dies
http://www.kpho.com/news/13881179/detail.html

A police dog left in his handler's vehicle was found dead after the Chandler officer returned to the vehicle.

Chandler police say the Belgian Malinois named Bandit apparently died of the extreme heat.

According to police, Sgt. Tom Lovejoy returned home Saturday after completing a duty assignment and apparently forgot that Bandit was in the vehicle. He found Bandit dead, say police, when he returned to the vehicle later in the day.

The high temperature in Phoenix on Saturday was 109 degrees.

The Chandler Police Department is investigating the incident.

The Chandler Police Department is conducting an investigation to determine if there were any violations of department policies, Griner said. Lovejoy will not face any criminal charges, he said. Lovejoy is still on duty.

4. If anyone else kills a police dog (accidentally or not)
they get the book thrown at them.

This is another example of the double standard for us and them.

8. Where I live, the police car is left locked abd running when the dog is in it
and the AC cranked full blast. To hell with the cost of gas.

In defense of the cops I know, I'd have to say 99 percent would not treat a canine partner in that way.

Not to mention that a canine is a very expensive investment for a department.

10. The Chandler Police Department
has just given good reassurance:sarcasm: to their citizens by not only neglecting to reprimand egregious neglect, but by also implying that such an act as just part of the job. If I lived in Chandler, I'd be sleeping with one eye open.
