Politics prime function (like religion) is to stifle the will of the majority.
Politics has taken over the prime function of institutional religion, which has always been to stifle the will of the majority.

How many religious nut cases have you met who gave a rat's derriere about democracy? No, they've all got 70 IQ cassettes jammed into the back of their heads telling them when to urinate and how to vote.

However, the pitiful lunacies of contemporary religioso types (as in expecting the world to go “boom” in the next week or two), are defining them out of the evolutionary dynamic of our species.

But SOMETHING has to keep the have and have not game going and if religion can no longer keep force fields around multi millionaires and billionaires, the Judas Joe Lieberman types will serve very well.

And if there is ONE THING ONLY we have learned during these last six and a half years, it's that traditional politics is part of the problem, not the solution.

Come on, we all know the DLC HIllary Clinton Doll is a desecration of liberal/progressive values. But so what else is new, since so are nearly all members of the Democratic/Republican Party.

And please, please, no illusions here. We have a ONE party system called the Democratic/Republican Party and its "prime function" is to make pig rich people pig, pig richer.

The elites are at the dead center of everything. They are the literal Gods and Goddesses of planet Earth. Sometimes they try to be low profile, even though Bush is now encouraging them to come out into the open, since fascism is the true home of Dictatorships of the Rich -- such as, alas, the United States of America

The have and have not distinction is the number one horror of the human condition and since the "haves" are such a tiny minority (1% or less), they have to keep cooking up strategies to justify and perpetuate their parasitical, vampire existence.

For millennia that strategy was religion, but the political shtick is now turning out to be plan B, since politics more successfully generates the illusion that it is "somehow" serving the will of the majority -- even though precisely the opposite is true!

Surely by now we don't need any more proof that this is the case since our "Democratic Congress" (what a laugh!) has turned out to be at least as Republican as the former congress.

Nope, Congressional Democrats = Congressional Republicans. It's a pretty simple set up and the elites/haves love it since it keeps them in 2 or 3 mansions, never ending international vacations, designer cars they don't even drive, affairs in Bangkok at a whim, and health care which costs more in a day than the rest of us slobs spend on our children's health in a lifetime.

Politics is like a real world sitcom in which we get to pretend that the sand castles we so energetically make are going to do battle for us against the social structures which are stifling our lives. The problem is that the sand-castle-making IS ITSELF a fail safe of these very same social structures.

In short, we’re all just arm wrestling against ourselves.

There are, however, apolitical, hardball alternatives and some of them ain't pretty, but when you're going down for the third time it is our God given and Constitutional birthright to do WHATEVER WE HAVE TO DO to protect our children from cannon fodder, Bush/Cheney Oil Wars, heal (if still possible) butchered Mother Nature, and save our truly infinitely vulnerable lives.
