4. And As For Feeble Friedman....

Ask those Chinese who paid the PhD bills: their home governments. China may be the fraud capital of the world with counterfeit drugs and poisoned foodstuffs, but they value education and training in science and engineering, unlike our bottom-line, next quarter B school graduates and their Fundie sidekicks.

And if they could figure out a way to do it, most of those new PhDs would stay here, even though they would never make enough money with their degrees to actually pay for them, unless of course, they were marginally useful to a serious moneyman or a right wing Fundie.....


Because America no longer values science, engineering or education. It neither supports its students nor employs its graduates, nor pays its experienced worker pool. How many corporate physicists are scrimping by on the wife's earnings as fees for translating Russian or Chinese scientific papers?

How many engineers have been laid off before retirement for good, nowadays, as early as 45?

Don't cry those crocodile tears, Friedman; the educated workforce has heard the same bullshit for at least 35 years now, which is how far back my awareness of it goes. But then I'm only 52.

5. I'm not Gore's biggest fan

but why the hell is his weight an issue? This is precisely what he is criticizing about the news media. Doesn't this woman have a Pulitzer? This is obscene.

I've seen some pretty obsequious Gore-worship here on DU, but I think the fact that a New York Times column focuses on the weight of a public figure is even more disgusting. Is this the culture that the Tancredo types want so badly to protect from illegal immigrants?
