Economic Report: Lower-Wage Workers Less Likely To Have Paid Sick Days - 05/02/07

By Jesse Russell

Forty three percent of private sector workers have no access to paid sick leave. That’s according to a new snapshot from the Economic Policy Institute. EPI goes on to say that workers making less than $7.38 per hour are five times less likely to have sick days than workers who earn on average more than $29.47 per hour. Only 16 percent of those low-wage workers are granted sick days while 79 percent of high-wage workers do.
