White House gives House committee documents on MZM contract
The White House has turned over to a House committee approximately 200 pages of documents related to a contract awarded to MZM Inc., a company that was run by a defense contractor who pleaded guilty to bribing jailed GOP ex-Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham.

At issue was a $140,000 contract awarded to MZM in July 2002 by the Executive Office of the President. When he requested information about the contract in March, Waxman noted "serious irregularities" with other MZM work and said his inquiry was part of his ongoing investigation into waste, fraud and abuse in government contracting.

Waxman noted in a letter to the White House counsel this month that published reports said the MZM contract was for office furniture for the vice president's office.

However, Waxman wrote in the letter that his staff had heard from an official in the counsel's office who "stated that he had been unable to identify any contracts for furniture within the vice president's office, but that he had heard 'rumors' about a different contract 'related to WMD' that raised 'certain sensibilities.'"

3. I have absolutely ZERO problem with Bush trusting his own, personal security to "Loyal Bushies."

Leaving a "Loyal Bushie" in charge of FEMA and drowning a city is wrong.

Buying Anthrax-detecting equipment for The White House from a "Loyal Bushie"... hey, why not?

Hiring Secret Service agents who are "Loyal Bushies"...

US secret service officer accidently shoots two agents

Two Secret Service officers were injured after a gun held by another Secret Service officer accidentally fired inside the White House gate, according to a spokesman, Darrin Blackford.

Their injuries are non-life threatening, the spokesman said.

One officer suffered a shrapnel wound to the face, and the other was wounded in the leg.

The White House has turned over to a House committee about 200 pages of documents related to a documents. That proved unnecessary after the White House delivered the documents Tuesday evening, said Karen Lightfoot, spokeswoman for the committee's chairman, Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif.

Lightfoot could provide no details on the documents Wednesday.

At issue is a $140,000 contract awarded to MZM Inc. in July 2002 by the Executive Office of the President. MZM was run by Mitchell Wade, who is cooperating with federal prosecutors.

One thing I've recently learned is that the 2002 MZM contract with the White House was to scan email to the White House for threats.

This one month July-August 2002 $140k contract with the White House was the first contract MZM had received from the federal government as a primary contractor. It had previously -- circa April 2002 - jointly bid with Gray Hawk and a third company for a Pentagon contract with the Counter Intelligence Field Activity. Funny thing is, when it made its initial bid, MZM didn't quite have its Federal Supply Schedule contract approved - its application was still pending. Someone put his thumb on the scale at GSA to make that go through, and MZM got its federal supply schedule contract approved in May 2002. Less than two months later, MZM got the White House contract. And of course, a couple weeks after getting the $140,000 White House contract, MZM's Mitchell Wade paid $140,000 to buy a yacht which he gave to Congressman Duke Cunningham.
