It is tough to defend U.S. secretary of defense
Edited on Sat Sep-30-06 06:36 PM by struggle4progress
.. Sixteen disparate U.S. intelligence agencies say the war has helped spawn a new generation of Islamic radicals bent on the West's destruction.

On Sept. 25, in remarks to a Senate Policy Committee, two retired Army generals accused Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld of incompetence in the execution of the Iraq War.

Retired Maj. Gen. Paul Eaton described Rumsfeld as "incompetent strategically, operationally and tactically."

"Mr. Rumsfeld and his immediate team must be replaced or we will see two more years of extraordinarily bad decision-making," said Eaton ..

<edit:> The general analysis is somewhat lacking, but the article nicely lays out the case for removing Rumsfeld ...

1. Bob Graham Was Right
Four years ago, when the Iraqi War Resolution was being pondered, he voted against it because he believed it would HURT the War on Terror. Senator Graham has since retired, but at the time he was the Chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee. Bob Graham is no Liberal, he actually co-authored that vile bit known as the Patriot Act (I like to tell myself he wrote the parts that weren't so bad).

And he opposed the Iraq War.

If the man had any charisma and the media weren't so biased, we might see a bit more of Graham now saying, "I Told You So. I Told You So. I Told You So."

Bob Graham, Democrat, got it right - from the beginning.

All the Republicans got it wrong.

For the life of me, I can't imagine how they arranged such amazing timing for this piece.
